> CHRONICLE: THE OLD WEB

August 12, 2026

I've been digging through old websites again.

There is something strange about finding a personal homepage that somebody made twenty years ago and realizing that the person who created it probably had no idea anyone would still be looking at it decades later.

That's one of the reasons I started the Digital Archaeology section on this site. I want to preserve some of the weird, interesting, forgotten corners of the Internet that are still accessible through archives.

Tonight I ended up going down the Ulillillia rabbit hole. The amount of personal information, dreams, fears, projects, observations, and random documentation on that old site is absolutely wild.

The modern Internet tends to disappear into feeds. The old Internet was different. Somebody could just make a page and put whatever the hell they wanted on it.

Anyway, I'm probably going to keep adding things to the archive. This is what happens when I find one interesting website.

I find another one.

Then another.

Then suddenly it's 3 AM and I'm looking at a 2003 Angelfire page about someone's dreams.
